NUR 101 Introduction to Nursing
DESCRIPTION FALL 2024:
This course is an introduction to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Prelicensure program. It is designed to introduce the student to essential academic, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills required for success in the nursing program. Academic expectations, role of the professional nurse, medical terminology, and core nursing concepts will be introduced in this course. Additionally, in this course the student will gain knowledge essential to the role of a patient care tech.
REVISED DESCRIPTION SPRING/SUMMER 2025:
This introductory course prepares students for success in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Prelicensure (BSN-P) program. Students will explore personal motivations for nursing, develop essential academic and organizational skills, and examine the roles of nurses across educational levels. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, communication, and the foundational knowledge needed for patient-centered care and healthcare quality in the context of Mercy College of Ohio values. Key nursing concepts and skills, including medical terminology and patient care, are introduced to support academic and clinical success.
