Mercy College Office of Financial Aid is committed to providing friendly and courteous service by delivering aid to all eligible students in a fair and equitable manner. We are here to help you navigate the financial aid process while providing guidance on what to expect.
What is Financial Aid? Financial aid is any funding that you receive to help pay for your education. Financial aid usually comes in the form of grants, loans, Federal Work Study, and scholarships. The type of aid you receive depends on your eligibility. Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step in determining what type of aid you may be eligible to receive and the amounts. A new FAFSA is required each year and available October 1st of each year through June 30th of the following year. Some types of aid are based on first-come, first-served, so please be sure to complete the FAFSA as early as possible to maximize your aid opportunities. Most funding is awarded based on demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Financial Need is the difference between the cost of attendance at the college minus the Student Aid Index (SAI).
Mercy College offers both merit-based and need-based scholarships. Our annual scholarship application cycle is December through February each year to identify students for the upcoming aid year.
The Office of Financial Aid also certifies all Veteran Education Benefits.
