NUR 418 Professional Nursing Concepts III

DESCRIPTION FALL 2024:
This is the third course in a series of four courses on the professional roles and responsibilities of the nurse within the complex healthcare system. Emphasis is on the role of the nurse in population health. Key content includes integration of evidence-based practice, health promotion, disease prevention, and cultural competency in care of communities and populations. Clinical practice experience will provide opportunities to assess and care for communities and populations.

REVISED DESCRIPTION SPRING/SUMMER 2025:
This is the third course in a four-part series focusing on the professional roles and responsibilities of the nurse. Emphasis is placed on leadership strategies to promote population health and address diverse needs of communities. Students will analyze community data and consider health policies in planning for community-based needs. Disaster preparedness will also be explored. Clinical experiences provide opportunities to use community resources and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered, population-focused care.
